Bio-certified beehives

As a company we focus not only on the final product, but also on the raw material that we start with. This is why we derive our honey only from bio-certified beehives, all of them located in places without any pollution and pesticide treatment.

Polyfloral Paradise Honey

The main difference between regular beekeeping and ours is that with the regular one the bees are being fed on added sugars. Under the bio method, which we employ, we feed the bees only with their own honey, improving the overall taste and quality of the end product.

Mid-October is the time when the bees get ready for the winter. Our honey is 100% polyfloral – it is gathered from various flowers, which contributes to its unique taste!

The beehives

We started out in 2016 with 150 beehives in the picturesque village of Gortalovo, near Pleven.

After we won financing through an European subsidiary programme we managed to raise the number of our beehives to 300!

As of today the number of beehives is 500, all of them bio certified and located in the same village.

The region.

The village of Gortalovo is located 15km southeast of Pleven, Bulgaria, near one of the most famous nature reserves, Chernelka. Here, the canyon of the river for many kilometers has set a picturesque and extremely diverse flora and fauna creating the perfect conditions for organic beekeeping.

The region is renowned for its rich history dating back to the Roman Empire, encompassing the myths and legends of Krali Marko and Shishman’s soldiers, and reaching the heroic death of Major Gortalov in the Pleven era of the Russo-Turkish War.

For 7 km, this breathtaking area is a point of interest for tourists from all over the world who come to see sights such as the Zepen stone, the Tsareva Dupka cave, the ancient Provernik well or the remains of the Latin Garden and the ancient part of the Serdika Roman Road.

The biodiversity in the area is characterized by 200 species of birds, 9 species of fish, 5 species of amphibians and the largest population of snowflake. In addition, the well-known karst springs such as “Baba Radica”, “Babylja” and “Kapchuk” reаfirm the popularity of Chernekel as a true natural phenomenon.

Our beehive.

Kilometers of forest terrain and pastures with predominant linden and acacia surround the beehive of “Paradise honey” giving the basis for the unique taste and aroma of our end product. Uncultivated areas offering a variety of honey plants with different botanical composition as well as blooming time give us the opportunity to harvest during different seasons. The earliest nectar in our honeycombs is honeydew. White cress, white acacia, white clover, mint, coriander, basil, blackberry, rosehip, cranberry, oregano and others are part of the herbal bouquet available for grazing our bees.

Our Beehive

“Paradise Honey” is a poly-floral, bio-certified product, free of pollutants containing high nutritional values. Our bee families are fed with their own honey without being treated with antibiotics or formic and oxalic acids against varroatosis. Our honey combs are periodically replaced in order to avoid the introduction of diseases and infestations in the hives while the pristine terrain surrounding them is naturally protected from pesticides and fertile fertilizers. Each beehive has a designated diary reflecting the periodic reviews over time.

The herbal variety of this picturesque region together with our experience and established tradition in beekeeping gave birth to “Paradise Honey”. Our product reaches your table with a distinctive taste and a touch of purity from the deepest roots of the nature.
