The village of Gortalovo is located 15km southeast of Pleven, Bulgaria, near one of the most famous nature reserves, Chernelka. Here, the canyon of the river for many kilometers has set a picturesque and extremely diverse flora and fauna creating the perfect conditions for organic beekeeping.
The region is renowned for its rich history dating back to the Roman Empire, encompassing the myths and legends of Krali Marko and Shishman’s soldiers, and reaching the heroic death of Major Gortalov in the Pleven era of the Russo-Turkish War.
For 7 km, this breathtaking area is a point of interest for tourists from all over the world who come to see sights such as the Zepen stone, the Tsareva Dupka cave, the ancient Provernik well or the remains of the Latin Garden and the ancient part of the Serdika Roman Road.
